Since 1993, Goldstein Creations has been offering fossilized wood creations for private and professional clients. Each piece is the result of many days of work and patience to transform petrified wood into sublime coffee tables or unique paintings. The manufacturers pass on their techniques from generation to generation. There is no school to learn how to work with petrified wood, only the transmission of artisanal know-how. This consists of several steps:
- Sawing petrified wood: the logs are selected and brought back from the United States. Once they arrive at the workshop in Spechbach-le-Bas, in France, they are sawn using a twisted cable over 100 m long. This technique produces a clean and precise result. It takes around 7 hours to cover 1 m².
- Polishing petrified wood: each piece is chosen for its shimmering colors. To allow everyone to admire them in all their splendor, the wood is polished to make each piece shine.
- Restructuring: fossil wood is used in its natural state. It can sometimes crack or be cut into an incomplete shape. The artisans then carry out a natural restructuring by adding the missing parts by hand, for a perfect result.
