Petrified wood creations from our workshop
All Arizona petrified wood creations are made in the workshop located in France in the Alsace region. Meticulous craftsmanship techniques are used to create unique pieces for each customer.
Sawing techniques
Goldstein Creations is a specialist in artisanal creations made from Arizona petrified wood, using rigorous techniques to create your interior décor items (wall decorations, coffee tables, dining tables, etc.).
An ancient sawing technique is used to adapt to the material. To do this, the Goldstein Creations teams use a 100 m long twisted cable. This cable sawing technique has been modified and adapted to the hardness of Arizona petrified wood.
Approximately 100 m of cable is required, and it takes no less than 7 hours of sawing for 1 m². Petrified wood has a hardness rating between 7 and 8. In comparison, granite, known for its resistance, has a rating of only 5, and diamond has a rating between 9 and 10.
Color reveal through polishing
Polishing petrified wood to give it its final appearance requires rigor and precision. Polishing the slabs is a unique savoir-faire. Many steps are necessary to bring out all the colors present in Arizona petrified wood.
The polishing work is measured not in hours but in days. Petrified trees are made of silica, a material much harder than granite. The special grinding wheels we use allow us to achieve a shine that will not fade over time. This material requires us to improve or adapt our working techniques every day. Patience is an essential quality in this profession. After all, compared to 200 million years, what are a few days?
