Discover petrified wood creations in Spechbach-le-Bas
Goldstein Creations is the result of its team’s passion. That’s why they are dedicated to presenting their work at events and Open Houses. To allow as many people as possible to discover the fossilized wood creations, the company is organizing guided tours on the weekend of June 2nd to 4th, 2023! The premises will be open continuously from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., allowing you to wander among the petrified wood tables, desks, onyx lamps, and paintings made of fossilized Arizona wood.
The gallery showcases a wide variety of handcrafted works by Goldstein Creations. With over 250m² of exhibition space, you can wander through the pieces and take a journey back more than 200 million years.
Visit the workshop and watch sawing and polishing demonstrations.
The craft requires precision and patience. Each step is carried out by hand in the Goldstein Creations workshop. Petrified wood is known for being particularly hard, even harder than granite. Sawing it therefore requires many hours of work, up to 7 hours for 1m² of wood. This is done using a twisted cable, according to rigorous techniques. During the Open House, sawing demonstrations will take place to allow you to discover this incomparable craft.
Once sawn, petrified wood needs to be polished to give it its shiny, smooth appearance. This step also reveals and enhances the colors present in the wood. Whether done by hand or with a machine, depending on the piece, polishing requires days of work to achieve a result that meets expectations. You will also have the opportunity to attend polishing demonstrations to discover and appreciate all the steps involved in creating pieces from fossilized wood.
